Korean groups Big Bang and Dong Bang Shin Ki both won awards at the 24th Japan Golden Disk Awards that took place on February 24th. The award is based on last year's albums sales.
Big Bang, who debuted in Japan last June with single My Heaven followed by Gara Gara Go!! and Koe wo kikasete, won one of the "5 Best New Artists" awards.
In addition, Dong Bang Shin Ki won the "Best Music Video" award for All About TVXQ Season 3.

On February 25th, JYP Entertainment published on their official website an announcement about 2PM's former leader and member Park Jaebeom.
In the statement, JYP Entertainment says they were preparing his comeback for late February in a press conference and his official comeback for April with a new album. But after a phone conversation with Jaebeom on December 22nd, the singer revelead that he had committed another huge mistake during Again & Again promotions, besides those that made him withdraw last September.
6-member 2PM were finishing their end of year promotions and were informed about the conversation on January 3rd. After discussing the matter, they revealed that it would be hard to work with Jay as 2PM.
JYP Entertainment decided then to terminate the contract with Park Jaebeom and he is no longer affiliated with the company.

Actor singer Rain will release a special album in April, according to J.Tune Entertainment on the 19th.
Rain will release a mini-album with 4 or 5 songs in April, after which he plans to release a full album in October.
This special album will be released 1 year and 6 months after his 5th album Rainism, released in May 2008. Last year Rain was part of the Hollywood movie Ninja Assassin and due to frequent international promotions did not release any albums.
A J.Tune official said, "Recording for some songs is now finished and we keep receiving better songs from composers. The album will have a fresh ballad, but the title track genre is not decided yet."
Rain's Asian Tour finished in January but he's still doing encore performances. He is also considering being part of a drama for the second half of this year.

Hip-hop group Epik High is releasing a new album next month.
The group will resume its activities as a two-member group without DJ Tukutz, who got married on October 13, and entered military service on October 15.
The new album Epilogue comes out seven months after the group released their last album, [e], in September.
On the group's website, Tablo posted a note saying: "The recording of the Epilogue album is finished. Mixing will start soon and jacket design work is underway."
Agency officials said about 90 percent of work on the album has been completed.

On the 16th, the Seoul Cultural Arts Committee announced the winners for the First Annual Seoul Culture and Arts Award, given to the most influential artists in each field of popular culture.
Lee Kyung Kyu was awarded best MC. In the acting field, actress Son Ye Jin was awarded for her work on the movie A Moment to Remember and actor Lee Byung Hun for his work on KBS drama IRIS and Hollywood movie G.I. Joe.
For the Wonder Girls' success in the US market, Park Jin Young was awarded best producer, while sexy diva Lee Hyori won as best singer. In the musical category, Ok Ju Hyun was chosen.
The ceremony was held on February 23rd at Jamsil Students' Gymnasium and had Kim Byung Chan and actress Park Shin Hye as MCs, as well as groups T-Ara, SG Wannabe and U-Kiss as guests.

DBSK Xiah's twin brother will make a debut in China.
The twin brother, Kim Jun-ho, will make his official debut as a singer under the name of Zuno through a showcase in Beijing on March 28th. According to a Chinese newspaper on the 16th, he is to hold an approximately 2 hours long showcase which includes his debut song, music video and more. The event is garnering more attention as the sources revealed that Xiah will be in attendance.

Taek-yeon of 2PM will take part in an already talked about drama, KBS Cinderella's Step Sister.
The singer has shown a positive reaction to his character for the drama where he is to play a devoted guy who only loves one woman. His character has an unfortunate family history involving his parents' divorce and remarriage. Therefore he becomes a lonely guy who never tasted his mother's cooking. The romance begins as the girl cooks for him a meal which turns out to be the first meal anyone has cooked just for him.
Taek-yeon finds a similarity with the character when it comes to food as he is a keen food lover as well. Even the agency commented that amongst the staff, he is known to eat a lot within a short space of time. Plus he is known to be the food lover within 2PM.
The drama is to be aired once KBS Chuno finishes and has become a hot issue already because of the star-studded line up. Korea's talented sweetheart actress, Moon Geun-young, will play the "step sister" Taek-yeon falls in love with and Seo-woo will be the "Cinderella".

One Day will be a one day special on KBS Music Bank in celebration of Korea's Lunar New Year's Day. SM Entertainment has denied the rumors saying SNSD's Sunny was taken to the hospital for an emergency.
On the 10th, after participating in an MBC program, instead of attending the MBC radio show Shin Dong and Kim Shin-young's Simsimtapa, Sunny went home to rest due to signs of a bad cold. Kara held their first showcase in Japan, and it turned out to be a success.
On the 6th, hundreds of Japanese reporters and J POP staff gathered at the girls' official press conference. They had originally planned a one off showcase but it expanded to 2 shows in total as unexpected numbers of fans pre-booked the tickets for the first one.
The first showcase was held at Akasaka Blitz with around 4,000 fans ranging from teenage boys to men in their 40s. Jang Woo-hyuk, who has recently returned from 2 years of obligatory military service, made a come back stage in China.

Geum-bi of Turtles is returning to the fans with a solo album.

The girls released the new song on the 24th, and followed up with their come back stage on the 28th through MBC Show! Music Core. Within one week, they have managed to beat out other idol competitors such as 2AM, claiming the top spot for themselves.

Min Kyung-hoon has finally made his come back stage with mini album Reunion, on the 5th of February.
This stage is especially meaningful for the singer, whose career has gone through some low points.
Min was the vocalist of successful rock band Buzz, which had gained a lot of popularity among young people. However, after their split due to military service and other reasons, Min's solo career did not meet the high expectations set for it. After the 1st album, he lost confidence with no agency to support him. He even considered going into a different career. However, this was not an option for him as his face is too well known across the country.
Netizens were even more shocked when he confessed that during his slump, he gained more than 30 kg thereby exceeding 90 kg, as a result of daily alcohol consumption. CN Blue held a successful surprise guerilla concert with their 1st mini album.
On 4th February, the boys were at Hong-ik University street area to perform their 1st mini album, Bluetory, for 30 minutes.The concert kicked off with their Japanese indie debut song, Now or Never which helped gather more than 400 people within minutes. They sang all songs of Bluetory and sang I'm a Loner one more time as an encore. Since they are experienced street indie band, their stage manners shined as they confidently grabbed hold of the audience's attention.
Afterward, the band expressed their thanks, 'Although it was a short 30minutes concert, it made us happy reminding us of the old times. We want to do more performances like this and hope you guys remember us too'.
This concert was organised from a cable show and more are to be expected as the show's concept is to have each member organise one all by themselves. This first one had been arranged by Lee Jong-hyun.

Wonder Girls have canceled their American tour, which was scheduled to take place at the end of the month.
The JYP Entertainment staff announced that further notice will be given later but as for now, the tour and album are delayed. Their album and tour are rescheduled for around April so the new member, Lim, will have some time to settle in.
At the moment, Lim is in China with the other members. They left on February 2nd to participate in advert promotions. Afterward, she will head to America with them.
Sun-mi remains in America to finish her career as a Wonder Girl.
She still has a few things on her schedule to handle and it looks like the POP-CON Concert on the 20th is going to be her last stage for the time being.

2PM's Junho will join KBS Let's Go Dream Team Season 2 as a permanent cast member.
He has previously been involved in the pilot program for the show along with SHINEE's Minho, but due to 2PM leader Jae-beom's sudden departure, the star only concentrated on music programs.
Fortunately, the PD announced on February 1st that Junho will rejoin fellow cast members starting from the 10th with UFC sports players. Furthermore, his contribution had been planned for some time, but was delayed due to the group's incident.

Kim Bomi has signed a new contract with Chocolate Agency to restart her music career.
Her debut group, MILK, was a popular idol group of 4 girls in SM Entertainment. After the 1st album, the singer concentrated on her studies with regular appearances in adverts and drama series. Since her SM Entertainment contract ended, she signed on with Chocolate Agency this year.
The agency's representative has announced that the singer's voice has depth and soul.
Perhaps this means an end to her idol genre music and an adventure into a new genre.
Therefore the plan is to have the star playing guitar as well as making appearances at club stages.
Her first solo album will have the support of fellow talented musicians but most importantly, the singer will compose, write the lyrics and even play the instruments to perfect it.

Typhoon has officially split after a 4 year long music career.
The trio made their debut back in 2006 with their first album, Troika, and were labeled the second Koyote as they had the same 2 boys and a girl format.
The female member, Solbi, gained more popularity after making appearances in Korean programs. Her popularity was at its peak during MBC 'sWe Got Married, when she and Andy of Shinhwa acted as a married couple.
Following the unfortunate news of the group's end, Solbi announced that she would like to return to the stage as Typhoon if there is a chance in the future.
On January 28th, Typhoon released a single album, Bye Typhoon, to make an official goodbye to the team. The agency has said the group will not make any stage performances and the song is only available through the music itself. This is because the song has been made especially for the loyal fans.

As if people were looking for a new elite, Paul Baek made headlines in Korean portal sites even before his official debut. He studied psychology at Harvard University and during his studies, he released a single in 2007.
Despite his academic talent, he looked for agencies through the internet to make something out of his passion for music. His current agency recognised his talent, especially in black music and expression. They released a single in 2007 without revealing his educational background, and insisted the star to finish his studies at the university first. The singer has now graduated and is ready to start his music career.
Hist first mini album is to be released on February 11th and will contain 7 songs in total. Paul has written English lyrics for one of the songs. Furthermore, one of the top producers helped produce the album, making this an even hotter issue than it already was.
