Clazzi - Infant

First Solo Album of Clazziquai's DJ.

Clazzi is part of the established group Clazziquai Project, the DJ behind all the songs to be precise, but Horan and Alex are probably more well known to international listeners, as their voices have been featured on not only the group's songs, but also on other projects. Infant thus is a very good way to get to know a new side of the man who created the beats of Clazziquai Project.

Even though we're presented with a style of music very similar to what we have heard on the group's albums, Infant is distinctive and different. It's more danceable, less pop-ish and pure electronica music. For a K-pop listener I would suggest starting with How We Feel featuring 2AM's Seulong, as it is probably the most accessible one out of the 11 songs on the album. After that you'll hopefully be ready to go through the rest and enjoy the great journey this album takes you on.

What's probably best about the album is feeling that everything is Clazzi's work through the various beats and melodies, but also every song features different artists, providing them with an individuality and special characteristics. You'll find people from all kinds of music styles such as indie pop, hip hop and electronica supporting the DJ. To name a few: MYK, Whale (of W&Whale) Koxx, Urban Zakapa and Kim Wan Seon.

While some of the songs like 40 Nights, Star Child, and Sexy Doll are on the heavier side, and Loving You is an alternative take to electronic music, we're also presented with some smoother and more relaxing sounds in Crazy For Love, Love&Hate and Bad Girl. This, however, doesn't mean those are less danceable, but simply smoother and without overly loud climaxes.

Infant is a must listen for Clazziquai Project fans, even though they might be surprised to find a more distinguished sound on this album. Electronica lovers will definitely enjoy this release and have a good time exploring the tracks with each run, as there's still something new to like even after listening to the songs the fifth time. For someone who is not so sure they will like the album, try songs that feature Seulong, MYK and Whale first, giving you a smooth ride into the experience, and decide afterwards if it is your kind of music, but I suggest everyone give it a good listen and judge for yourselves.

Personally I think that this is the perfect album to listen to in front of the mirror, getting ready to hit the town with friends on a Friday night. You’ll be in the dancing mood in no time!
