MAXIMUM THE HORMONE is a punk band with nu-metal and funk influences. Their style is reminiscent of bands like System Of A Down, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Ramones, which are, according to their songwriter Ryo, their major inspirations.
The band's sound is best described as a collection of sharply contrasting styles. This meshing and juxtaposing of styles, epitomized by the combination of Daisuke and Ryo's screaming vocals and the more melodic voice of drummer Nao, allows the band to fit comfortably in many genres. Their lyrics don't make much sense, but if the band's tremendous commercial success is any indication, their fans don't mind.
