Asty was a visual kei band formed by ex-members of Irodori, LOG and Lydiar in 2018. Decked out in eye-catching costumes featuring nearly every colour of the rainbow, they were a lively and upbeat group that focused on getting fans up and moving during their concerts. Each of their songs had a high-energy dance routine available on their YouTube channel that fans could do along with the band at their shows.
Their band name is a portmanteau of "asu" (the Japanese word for "tomorrow") and "steal", meaning that the band would steal boring, routine tomorrows away from their fans with their fun music and performances. While their music borrowed from many different genres, the high, sweet voice of frontman Takeru added a distinctive youthful flair to each track.
However, in July 2020, the members suddenly lost contact with Takeru. He later explained that he was enrolled in medical school while pursuing activities with Asty, and that balancing the two had become too difficult. He announced at the beginning of August that he would be leaving the band to devote his full attention to his studies, as he had promised his mother that he would complete medical school before she passed away. The remaining members decided to place Asty on indefinite hiatus following a final show on August 29th.
