BoA - Winter Love

Winter Love was the last single of BoA for 2006, and has a decidedly wintery theme to it.

Winter Love was released in November of 2006. Two editions were released, a regular edition, and a limited edition that came with a DVD with the PV for Winter Love. Both editions have 5 tracks.

It's been only 3 months since BoA released her previous single, KEY OF HEART/DOTCH. And while the previous single was simply screaming 'summer!', this single seems to be just the opposite with it's winter theme and ballads.

The title track, Winter Love, doesn't give much of a winter feeling, as the title would assume, but sounds more like an average ballad. However, it makes a nice song for a single. BoA's voice is wonderful as usual and the song overall has a typical BoA atmosphere.

The second track, Candle Lights, is slightly more upbeat than Winter Love. You could say this song has a slightly Spanish atmosphere, mainly caused by the guitar. The guitar gives the song a unique sound, while still maintaining BoA's familiar sound.

Although the first two songs on this single only have a remote winter feeling, BoA's cover of Last Christmas makes the Christmas feeling complete. This is an absolutely wonderful cover of this popular Christmas song in BoA style.

Tracks 4 and 5, Winter Love (TV MIX) and Candle Lights (TV MIX) respectively, are basically the same songs but mixed for television. The vocals are more mixed in with the background music.

The PV for Winter Love that came with the limited edition for this single gives you more of a winter feeling than the song itself was able to achieve. The setting is beautiful and the way the 'story' is portrayed is nicely done. The PV makes the song and it's message a lot stronger.

Overall, this single is a nice winter single. But although the single is all about the song Winter Love, a beautiful song, the most impressive song on this single really is the cover of Last Christmas. I would recommend this single to people who haven't heard a lot of BoA yet, because Winter Love gives you a typical BoA ballad. And of course this single is a must-have for BoA fans.
