Cheon Sang Ji Hee The Grace

Tenjochiki (Cheon Sang Ji Hee The Grace) recently began their career in Japan. After several single releases, their first Japanese album release on November 13th 2007, was released in two versions. The first version contains a CD and a DVD.

The CD includes 14 songs, which include the 5 Japanese singles released in 2006 and the DVD contains 6 clips. Regarding the second version, there is no DVD but the CD content is the same.

This album contains 4 collaborations. We have Just for One Day featuring Jejung (Tohoshinki/DBSK), Get on The Floor featuring Dogma, The Club featuring Seamo and Juicy Love featuring Cornhead.

The atmosphere on this album is absorbing. With the first songs, Piranha and One More Time, OK?, we can already see the vocal potential of the group. The rhythms are swinging and we are drawn into the pop feelings in the song. In the song Piranha, Lina continues to display powerful vocals and Stephanie has a warm voice. As with One More Time, OK ? (their most famous song), the tempo immerses us in the pop atmosphere. It's thanks to this song that Tenjochiki won the Best Dance Award in MKMF 2007.

This album has the ability to mix different musical styles. This can be heard in Just For One Day (featuring Tohoshinki's Jejung) where Tenjochiki's members' voices lull us alongside the sound of a saxophone. A novelty follows: I'll Kiss You. Several titles seem to have their own theme and though I'll Kiss You is a little more pop than Just For One Day, the atmosphere is still sweet... Before being totally changed in the next song Boomerang which was performed by the group at the A-Nation 2007.

The bouncy rhythm and the voices are perfectly synchronized within the song before increasing even further on PARDON ME??. Throughout the song their is a definite dance feeling throughout and the members' voices are put to the test.

5cm and Sweet Flower follow. The first in a weaker rhythm and the second is more rapid. Around half way through the song we can hear electronics effects which are punctuated with Stephanie's voice. The combination of the two maked the song sound very original.

The following three songs are all collaborations with different artists. In Get One The Floor (featuring Dogma) is definitely soul music. The high voices give a sensual effect as the group shows us their vocal talents with this famous Japanese artist. Various sounds are superposed as with the following song that was a success in Korea: The Club featuring Seamo (featuring Rain in the Korean version). The rap passage by Seamo is followed immediately by the chorus where, at odd moments, a voice stands out.

Surprisingly, the next song's atmosphere is completely different. With Juicy Love we can recognize a Zouk style which changes with the arrival of Cornhead. Cornhead shows us a very good rap demonstration before the girls perform the chorus again.

Most of the songs of the group contain different rhythms and musical styles in one song. For example, in a ballad the style changes suddenly and the song is transformed in a pop song. There is something for everyone.

And, lastly, My Everything closes this album. The song is very famous in Korea (due in part to the participation of Super Junior's Kibum in the video). This song reveals the graceful side of the group. It's a sweet song where the voices are amazing.

This album that began with the up tempo Piranha ends with a declaration of love from the group. My Everything, so soft, shows a range of possibilities that Cheon Sang Ji Hee The Grace are able to perform. And not only singing.

On the DVD, there are 6 videos included where we can see that the girls are also talented in dance, especially Stephanie, who has a little dance solo in almost all clips.

Cheon Sang Ji Hee The Grace are new on the Japanese scene and this first album is a pleasant surprise! Warm and sensual at the same time, sweet and swinging, this group is talented and are very promising for the future.
