Kim Hyun Joong - LUCKY

Sophomore mini-album release proves to be just as good as the first.

LUCKY

Kim Hyun Joong

Following up from Kim Hyun Joong’s debut mini album Breakdown, his second mini album seems to fair just as well. Released earlier in mid-October through KeyEast Entertainment, Lucky offers a fine selection of light dance tracks with a twist, and soft ballads for the light-hearted.

Do you like that sets the second mini-album into motion, with fast guitar riffs in combination with a light dance beat. This combination is a little odd, but does prepare the listener for the title track.

The second catchy track, Lucky Guy will surely drive you to get up and dance. Its bouncy beat with guitars riffs and pleasant vocals give a certain edge to the track. Through October 2011, Lucky Guy ranked second placed on Gaon’s Monthly Album Chart and has charted on the Billboard World Chart at fifth place from 29th October until November 4th, 2011.

Uteoyo carries a lighter RnB feeling and is far more laidback—very comforting and easy to zone out listening to it.

Following is a calm, slow-moving ballad, Naneun ne namjaya. The track is largely piano and violin based, sounding much like those melodramatic songs heard in most popular Korean drama series.

The final track, U brings the mini album to a close with a power ballad. The backing track includes piano and violin that contrasts well with Kim Hyun Joong’s voice and making it stand out. This is one of the highlights of the mini-album.

The release also includes an instrumental version of Lucky Guy.

Official MV and dance MV for Lucky Guy are below. Enjoy! Who’s going to learn or has already learnt the dance?
