March 9th marked the first show of a K-pop group in Chile, as well as the debut of JYJ in South America. Two days before the show, there were fans in the queue waiting impatiently to get the best places to see the trio from. On the day of the show, fans of multiple countries in South America attended the sold out Caupolicán Theater to cheer on the boys' debut.

Inside the venue, glow sticks of various colors and a lot of shiny Mickey-ears were visible, a tribute to Yoochun. The Korean media were a large presence at the show as well, with lots of reporters from different Korean media companies filming and interviewing the fans. The stage had two parts; the lower had stairs at both sides that led to the second floor. There were also three screens: a big one behind the stage, and two smaller ones at each side.

At nine o’clock sharp, JYJ’s logo showed up on the screens, and the venue was filled with deafening cheers. The lights went down and the shadows of the three members could be seen entering the stage for the first song of the night, Empty. Wearing red and white, and accompanied by six dancers in black and white outfits, the trio sang along with the audience voices, who screamed enthusiastically “Let it go!” in the chorus.

When the first song was over and the lights went off, the three left the stage and the first video of the night showed up on the bigger screen. On it, the trio greeted the South America fans, saying it was an honor to be there. They announced that for this South America Tour, they made new versions of the songs Get Out and Ayyy Girl, because they would like to show more stylized music and dancing. They also said that South America is a beautiful and enthralling place, and they thought it was amazing to be there.

At the end of the video, the members came back to the stage with two interpreters for a quick MC. Junsu greeted the audience and introduced himself in Spanish, risking more phrases like “Estan listos?” (Are you ready?) and “Vamos!” (Come on!), and, after the exciting screams of the crowd, he finished with: “I’m really happy to be here and I’ll do my best!” Jaejoong also greeted the audience and introduced himself in Spanish, saying that he was really glad to be in Chile with his fans. After greetings and introductions in Spanish, Yoochun laughed a little, surprised by the shouts in answer, and he tried to sing along when the crowd chanted “Mijito Rico!” (Sexy Boy), then expressing his happiness to be there. Jaejoong then announced the next song, Pierrot.

The trio, lit by a red light, stood at the higher part of the stage singing, while the dancers kept dancing below, like marionettes, using masquerades, choreography almost robotic. After that began the new version of Ayyy Girl, slower than the original and with no choreography. In the beginning, it seemed like they were singing a capella, but in the chorus, the song hastened a little and the three went down the stairs to the lower stage, where the dancers were waiting for them. Junsu sang while dancing sensually with one of the dancers; Jaejoong kept singing in the middle, while Yoochun sang sitting in a chair with another dancer dancing for him. It was a pretty different performance for Ayyy Girl, but it surely pleased the crowd, which screamed madly.

Be My Girl was the next, with the choir of fans in the chorus “All night, That’s right, I’d like” in the mist of red and blue lights. Junsu took the fans to frenzy with his moving hips while singing “Baby, baby, baby.” Soon the music changed to a remix version and the dancers entered the stage with the trio leading the choreography, followed by the audience. The three left the stage and a new video started in the bigger screen, this time displaying footage of the rehearsal, the recording and funny backstage’s scenes.

Two cages were placed each side of the stage and everybody already screamed, knowing that the next song would be I Love You, Yoochun’s solo, now in black outfits. Two female dancers were dancing at each cage, flirting with Yoochun behind the bars, until they went off in the middle of the song to dance with him, creating loud cries from the audience.

Next was I’ll Protect You, Jaejoong’s solo and OST of the drama “Protect the Boss.” Jaejoong, wearing black with some touches of blue, kept singing in the center of the stage, wrapped in blue lights and fogs. The way he expressed himself while singing and his vocal ability, made him conquer a lot of cries and claps at the end of the song, getting some fans to tears.

The next number was a little surprising for many people there, who were expecting Junsu singing You are Beautiful. Instead, he entered in a dark outfit joined by dancers to sing Intoxication, released in 2010 as his solo project in Japan. The performance led the fans to madness, with fire gushing from the floor and Junsu supersizing in the choreography, dancing in a very sexy way.

The lights went out and Jaejoong and Yoochun come back playing for Found You, followed by Junsu. Again they left the stage and another video started with footage in Santiago:

The lights went off again and the dancers, altogether six, entered the stage for a dance performance. The trio came back to I.D.S (I Deal Scenario) after a change of clothes, dancing with the dancers, with gushes of smoke and color lights. After, Be The One shook even more the audience, everyone singing the chorus “Be The One.”

Next came one of the most moving moments of the evening, Fallen Leaves. The trio remained in the center of the stage, wrapped by fog and a blue light in the back. The fans stayed quietly most of the time, hearing them sing. The performance was so beautiful and the vocal skills were so amazing that they were applauded by fans in tears.

A new video showcased up in the bigger screen, showing photos of the members and phrases about achieving dreams and their works. JYJ returned in a black outfit with golden touches, for an incredible performance of Mission, full of fire bursts.

A break was taken and they returned for the long and last MC of the night. The audience started yelling “La Colita”, a request for them to shake their hips. Jaejoong was the first to give in to the requests, laughing and placing his hands on his waist, shaking his hips. He signed to Junsu and, turning his back, the two shook their hips, leading the audience to madness. Yoochun was the more hard to convince and only after a lot of requests from the public, he turned his back and shook in a funny way, drawing out laughs from everyone, including Jaejoong. He said they were the first fans to ask them to shake their butts and promised to try for the next time they return. He apologized for not being able to speak in Spanish with the fans and thanked the presence of the interpreters. He expressed his surprise to see many male fans and asked only for the men to scream. The response surprised the members and Yoochun even covered his mouth to show how perplexed he was.

Jaejoong recovered, commenting he noticed that there were many fans from different countries there and started calling out one by one: Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia and Chile. He thanked everyone that came from another countries to the show, receiving cries of “Saranghae” (I love you) from the audience, and announced, over protests, the end of the show with the song In Heaven.

One of the most expected songs of the evening, In Heaven was sang along by the audience in tears, emphasizing the “Saranghae, Saranghae” part in the chorus. In the mist of white lights and images of the sky in the back screen, JYJ moved everyone with their interpretation and amazing vocals. The trio left the stage under cheers and cries and later on the whole crowd started stomping and scream “JYJ!” asking for more.

The wait was short, because soon the dancers were back on the stage, followed by the members using T-shirts of the tour, for the new remixed version of Get Out. All the Caupolicán Theather stood up, sang and jumped along with the trio in the midst of a burst of color shining papers with a new choreography in a new introduction. By all means, this was one of the most remarkable moments of the show.

To end the amazing night, JYJ chose the remix version of Empty, taking again the audience off the ground and making all of them sing and dance “Let it go!” in unison. The trio thanked again and left the stage among cheers and cries. The last video showcased in the bigger screen, showed many scenes of the three in concerts and the thanks for everyone’s presence.

JYJ gave a remarkable show. It was a successful debut that makes the fans expect many more K-pop bands in South America. Although the show was a little short for some, about 1 hour and 40 minutes, it was moving and unforgettable.
