Released May 24th, 2012 comes VIXX’s first single, SUPER HERO. The six member boy-band formed as winner of Mnet’s “Mydol” and debuted officially on the same day of their first release. Over this weekend, VIXX performed at the avidly popular anime convention, Otakon, held in Baltimore. The sextet’s first performance abroad marked one of the very first Korean groups to appear at a convention geared towards Japanese culture, showing that the Hallyu wave has hit even the US and captured fans' attention in seemingly unlikely places.

SUPER HERO is catchy at first listen. The song has a light dance beat and easy-to-follow lyrics without being too intense on the listener. For a debut release, SUPER HERO showcases each member’s talents—and talents for the near future.

The melody of the chorus in Starlight is very similar to SHINee’s Real and showcases similar charisma. It’s hard to believe that rookie group VIXX already have built up such an established, polished sound in their first digital single; what will the future hold?

The digital release includes an instrumental version of SUPER HERO and is available through iTunes Japan.

Mid-May, the group unveiled three short teasers to promote SUPER HERO and later, uploaded a full version of the MV. Currently the members continue to promote SUPER HERO.

Enjoy, and keep an eye out for VIXX in the meantime.
