2AM - Inorae

Debut of JYP's new ballad group

JYP taps the pulse of time, literally with his to new groups 2pm and the counterpart 2am. The members to this groups were chosen in the m.net documentary Hot Blood and put into two groups for their debut. 2am's highly anticipated debut single This Song was then finally released on July 17.

Since 2am concentrate on strong vocals it's no wonder their debut was made up of ballads. Inorae is a calm one with mainly piano, soft drums and strings added in the background. Inorae (meaning "This Song") is a sweet love confession to an unnamed girl, with the boy admitting he's got nothing but only his voice and this song to give to her. Not only the lyrics but also the video touched fan's hearts as it shows footage of behind the scenes of the members training and the effort they put into debuting. Jo Kwon, one of the members had been preparing for this moment since 8 years under JYP.

Sadly the second track Aniragie is again a piano ballad, though this time not as slow paced as the first one. Their mellow voices are displayed perfectly with this song as well, though it misses some of the emotions from the first track and doesn't leave a big impression like that.

The last track on the single is Eoddeokhajyo, an upbeat number with catchy beat that shows they not only manage ballads but also lively songs as well. Not too explosive, with bouncy beat and carefree vocals this song is a nice way to wrap up the single. Following just the instrumental versions of Inorae and Aniragie come up.

No surprise they've performed at popular music shows like Music Core or Inkigayo, with this single they already managed to convince fans and critics who think there are enough boy bands out there already. And that's the catch, only time can tell if they'll survive in the scene, but potential is definitely there.
