Daesung Pauses Activities After Fatal Car Accident

Big Bang member Daesung has paused his activities after being involved in a fatal car accident on May 31st. The artist was officially charged for causing the death of a motorcyclist.

The accident happened when a drunk motorcyclist collided with a street light and was lying in the street. Daesung, who was driving at 80km/ph, failed to see the man and ran him over with his car.

Korea's National Forensic Service and police had been investigating the accident and made an official statement on Friday, June 24: "We judged that Daesung was negligent in his responsibility to look ahead of him while driving, which led him to run over Hyun who was on the ground, inflicting multiple injuries on him that led to his death. [...] we judge that Hyun died due to his collision with the street light and the multiple injuries he suffered from being run over".

Daesung was charged without being detained. Following a hearing, it was announced yesterday that Daesung and the victim's family had reached a settlement. The details of this settlement were not revealed, but the family stated that they wished Daesung not to serve any punishment.

The artist is suspending all promotions until the end of this year in order to self-reflect and atone for the accident. YG Entertainment has stated that this will not affect any of Big bang's activities as they have no major promotions scheduled.
