Pop punk trio Dizzy Sunfist have announced that bassist and co-vocalist Iyama will be "graduating" from the group in October.
Iyama has been a member since the band's formation in 2009. In a comment about her departure, she stated that the band's hiatus from live activities in 2019 and reduced activities in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic gave her more time to think about her life, which caused her
to realize that the pace of the band's activity did not seem to align with her current self.
She thanked the band members, staff and fans for their many years of support and stated that she will continue to treasure her experiences as a member of Dizzy Sunfist after leaving the band.
To send her off with a smile, the band will be holding a short tour titled Dizzy Sunfist（Happy Graduation to IYM!!!) Tour, hitting CLUB QUATTRO locations in three cities. Her last live will be held at Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO
on October 15th.
However, the remaining members of Dizzy Sunfist, frontwoman Ayapeta and drummer moAi,
have stated that they have no intentions of stopping activities. They launched auditions for a new bassist in July, asking applicants to send in a cover of their 2017 single THE DREAM IS NOT DEAD.
In addition, they have announced the release of their first full album in over three years, DIZZYLAND -To Infinity & Beyond-, for October 27th. Details on its contents will be announced at a later date.
The band will also be promoting the new release with the "Welcome to DIZZYLAND" TOUR 2021-22, which will commence at mito LIGHT HOUSE on October 28th. The dates currently extend up to February 2022, with more to be added
later.
