THE UNCROWNED's SHAL Passes Away

Melodic hard rock band THE UNCROWNED have announced the passing of their vocalist, SHAL.

THE UNCROWNED guitarist Takeshi announced SHAL passed away on August 5th. Her funeral took place on the 10th. She had been undergoing treatment for cervical cancer since her diagnosis in June 2020.

SHAL documented her battle with the disease via social media and, in an interview with journalist and women's health advocate Yuko Oikawa, spoke about how she hoped to raise awareness of and alter misconceptions about the illness.

As previously reported, SHAL successfully recorded vocals for THE UNCROWNED’s second full-length album between courses of treatment. WITNESS will be released on September 21st via Walküre Records.
