Female Big Bang Changes Their Name

'Female Big Bang' group 21 (which can be pronounced as and has the second meaning of "to anyone") have changed their name to 2NE1 due to there already being a group by the name 21 (To Anyone). When they first chose the name 21, YG said they had had searched everywhere to make sure there weren't any artists by the name 21. Having not come up with any results, they stuck with this name. However, they were later notified that there was already a group by the same name of 21 (To Anyone).

YG Representative Yang Hyunsuk officially apologized on March 30, 2009 for not also searching the name "To Anyone". He also stated that they will no longer use the name 21 to call their 'Female Big Bang group'. Instead, they chose to name them 2NE1. According to YG, the NE symbolizes New Evolution. 2NE1 is set to officially debut in May. They currently have a digital single featuring Big Bang called Lollipop, part of the LG Cyon marketing campaign.
