Fly to the Sky's first ever US concert was held in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Hawaii Theatre on February 9, 2008.
Beauty Touch, known for promoting Korean products, artists, and even setting up tours to South Korea, were responsible for giving
Fly to the Sky the opportunity to have their first US concert in Hawaii. Not only were fans able to see
Fly to the Sky in concert at the Hawaii Theatre; but they were also able to purchase VIP tickets, which gave them the chance to attend a fan meeting where they were able to have a picture taken with
Brian and
Hwanhee. VIP tickets were sold at $300 USD, which also included the best seats for the concert.
At the fan meeting, VIP ticket holders were given a schedule of what was going to happen during the fan meet. They were allowed to stand alongside press as
Fly to the Sky had their press conference. VIP ticket holders were also allowed to ask
Fly to the Sky questions and some questions answered were:
Will Fly to the Sky attend the Hollywood Bowl (2008 Korean Music Festival)?
Brian answered for both himself and
Hwanhee and said that they were not sure because the artist list for that concert was not released at that moment. They weren't sure if they would be invited to go or not and they were waiting for an answer.
Where were you born Brian?
Los Angeles, California
The press conference lasted around 20 minutes. The FTTS with US Fan Club also presented
Fly to the Sky with a $3,000 USD check for them to donate to a Meals on Wheels Charity. They took a picture of them with the President and Vice President of FTTS with US.
After the press conference, fans were asked to form a line so that the fan meeting would be able to start. As fans did this,
Fly to the Sky left the room to take a break. Fans were happy that they were all able to receive a picture with, and autograph from,
Fly to the Sky and once they came back from their break, the fan meeting started. Fans received not only autographs but they were also given handshakes and even hugs. Fans were also seen giving
Hwanhee and
Brian gifts, which they happily received.
Pictures were taken in groups of 10, so that the fan meeting could move quickly. When all VIP ticket holders had gone through the autograph and picture taking process,
Fly to the Sky then thanked everyone and also mentioned that they would like to perform a bigger concert, after this one, in the United States.
At the concert, VIPs were treated at 5:00 p.m. to a party where they got to eat and chat with other VIP ticket holders. The theatre was packed full of people who were waiting for the doors to open. Once the doors were open, all the fans came pouring in. Their first sight was the stage with 3 screens, which displayed "Fly to the Sky" on them.
The opening act for the concert was from the 24/7 Dance Force team. They had a powerful performance that left the crowd cheering for more. And after their performance,
David Lim of Beauty Touch had a welcoming address in which he thanked all that came and all the sponsors and individuals that helped with the concert. Fans waved around their light sticks in
Fly to the Sky's colors as they sang their songs. They first sang
My Angel, the title track from their 7th album
No Limitations and, standing side by side,
Brian and
Hwanhee sang their hearts out.
Brian and
Hwanhee had the concert audience sing the chorus of their next song
Habit, before joining in again. They were so surprised and happy that the audience sang with them that even
Hwanhee exclaimed a happy "whooa" with a bright smile on his face.
Right Here Waiting was the next song performed. It was a special performance because the composer of
My Angel was the one to play the music for the song .
Brian encouraged the audience once more to sing the chorus to this famous song as they wave their arms in the air. And if you think those were the only songs the audience sang the chorus to, you'd be surprised that
Like A Man was also sang by the audience during the chorus.
Brian and
Hwanhee extended their mics so that the voices of their audience members could be captured by the speakers.
Fly to the Sky were also able to play a dart game with fans. The idea of the game was that they first had to draw numbers from a box. Inside that box were all the seat numbers inside the theatre. 8 lucky fans were going to be randomly picked and win a prize that was going to be autographed on the spot for them. However, when they were calling seat numbers, there was one extra fan that made it up there. They allowed her to come up but
David said this would mean that one of them would go home with nothing. The first to throw a dart was
Brian. He didn't make it at first but then he was able to pop a balloon with his dart. They had to throw darts at a wheel with balloons on it. Each balloon had a heart inside, on which was written the prize they would win. However, in order to be able to win the prize; the selected fan had to get a balloon and try to pop it within 10 seconds between herself and
Brian or
Hwanhee. Everyone was able to win! When a balloon would not pop,
Brian, Hwanhee or the assistant would come around and pop the balloon with a dart. As for the extra fan that was up there, she got a special valentine's present and picture with
Brian and
Hwanhee.
After the game,
Brian had his solo performance which was a mix of some songs from his solo album. The first song to be performed by Brian was
Don't Go (Gajima). Unlike its usual beat, this mix of
Don't Go was a little more upbeat at the beginning before it went into its original melody.
Brian danced throughout this song as the it merged into
First Date. In the middle of his
First Date performance,
Brian had a part where you hear the noise of a telephone ringing and with that he picks up his cell. Pressing it to his ear, a voice saying "Hello" in Korean comes up before he then hangs it up and continues to perform the song. For
Brian's third song in his mix, he takes off his jacket and starts to perform
Gentleman. He is holding flowers in his hands, which he passes out to the audience (one for each side of the theatre; left, center and right). Following this he performed
Resemblance (Dalmagagi) and then
Because I don't love you. The songs he performed for his solo mix were actually songs which he told the audience were songs he always wanted to perform on stage but because was not able to for various reasons.
He was then interviewed by
David Lim. He even had a joke where he was saying he was going to get married next year. This made the audience become quiet and
Brian immediately took back what he said saying he was just joking. After his interview,
Hwanhee was supposed to perform his solo mix. Brian told the audience that
Hwanhee had a special surprise at the end of his solo performance and he surely did.
The opening song to
Hwanhee's solo performance was
Tomorrow. The song played without
Hwanhee as shots of
Over The Rainbow played on the three screens on the stage. When the chorus started to play,
Hwanhee revealed himself on stage until the song started to phase into
Can't Help Missing You, which he sat in a chair along with the dancers. They bobbed their heads to the beat and
Hwanhee sang before they kicked their chairs back and started to dance. As the song shifted to
Shallow Love,
Hwanhee took off his jacket, started to undo his tie and pulled his shirt out from his pants. Immediately when he got into position, he started to dance by himself as the other dancers then later joined him once he started to sing.
Hwanhee had taken off his shirt at the end of his performance and immediately after he left,
Brian and
David Lim joked that
Hwanhee was completely naked backstage.
They surely could not interview him if he was naked.
Hwanhee did come out after a bit to the stage where he then has his own mini-interview. They asked the boys about dramas and acting.
Brian said he wanted the perfect role before he would actually embark in a series. And of course
Hwanhee has
I Love You coming out soon. The concert overall was very playful because of all the jokes that
Brian, David and
Hwanhee cracked.
After the interviews, they left the stage and a video of
Hwanhee and
Brian having a fight came on the screens on stage. It showed both of them punching each other as they glared at each other until finally they went at each other's throats. But once it ended they came on stage and started to perform
The Girl is Mine. This performance is all about who can get the girl but in the end it seems neither of them can. I then quickly changed into
Man 2 Man. In this performance, both of them act really silly on stage.
Brian makes faces at
Hwanhee,
Hwanhee spanks
Brian's butt and then chases him down the stage.
Man 2 Man ended with a funny exit from
Hwanhee who kept striking a pose till he went backstage.
Sea of Love was the following song performed. The dancers danced the same dance as in the music video as
Brian had the audience members stand up. In the middle of the song,
Hwanhee and
Brian decided to get off the stage and sing. They walked down the aisles until the boys before they came back on stage and sang
Missing You.
Brian asked once more for the audience to sing the chorus for
Missing You as well. He even commented as the audiences singing by saying it was "So beautiful" and "You guys are great". The final song was
Even if My Heart Breaks (Gaseumapado), a beautiful song to depart with. Once more, mid-way through the song,
Brian came down from the stage at the corner while fans ran up to him. Hugs were exchanged with the fans as
Hwanhee exchanged hugs and kisses (on the cheek) while leaning down from the stage. Once the concert ended, everyone seemed sad it was over, but judging by the comments made but they were happy to have such an experience.
