Show Me Your Love

Dong Bang Shin Ki, Super Junior

Their first time to collaborate, Dong Bang Shin Ki and Super Junior embrace their fans and other listeners during Christmas with their collaboration single Show me your love.

The first and title track, Show me your love, begins with Dong Bang Shin Ki's Micky rapping in English which is then answered by Heechul's from Super Junior. The music can definitely be called 'Christmassy', with bells jingling and accompanying the gentle but happy and upbeat tune of the song. Each member has a line in the verses and chorus, while everyone joins together for the main line 'Just show me your love'. Suitable for the release date, this song would be one of the best songs in interpretting the theme of Christmas into a pop song.

After an upbeat track for christmas, Dong Bang Shin Ki once again show their ability to sing ballads with as much emotion as possible. I wanna hold you contrasts greatly with the previous track - instead of the usual pop song style, the syncopated rhythm and the emphasised use of cymbals alongside the piano gives the song a much more Jazzy style of ballad which still manages to capture the feeling of Christmas. It is a good choice of track to be in between the first and the last track.

Suiting their teenage appearance and style, Super Junior returns to the CD with a more poppy track - I'm your man, opposing Dong Bang Shin Ki's jazz ballad. The song opens with Eunhyuk and Shindong talking over a techno extract which later becomes a light-hearted melody. As a whole, this track by Super Junior might be a disappointment for those who wished to hear this track more than the others. Out of all three songs, I'm your man has the least Christmas feeling. It seems that they weren't experimenting with any new style and only sticking to the genre that they had done from their debut.

But overall, this is an exciting Christmas release for both those old and new to these two bands and who want to get to know more about their style. Who would have thought that a team of 17 teenage boys would be more than just pretty faces singing some cheesy Christmas love songs?
