Fan Clubs:

It is very common anywhere in the world that singers and bands have a fan club, which means, an organization for people who support and admire certain artist, but in South Korea the official fan clubs are taken very seriously and they become real businesses. This is due, in part, to the fact that in the majority of cases the fan clubs are run by the artist's own company.

Korean fan clubs tend to offer its members a range of facilities, such as promotional tickets to concerts (or better seats), a member card, fan meetings with their idols in which only the fan club members can attend, gifts, souvenirs and many other benefits by a small annual fee.

However, the most remarkable detail is the fact that each fan club has its own name and color that represents the artist to whom it is devoted. It is common fans to attend concerts with light sticks and balloons with the fan club color, showing support to their idol and making the concerts real colored spectacles in which you can easily see where a particular fan club is standing in the audience.

Also, the fans are always creating sentences to be sung in determined part of a song, interacting more actively while the artists are performing.

Some artists can even have some type of item to represent themselves, such as Big Bang's crown, Seo Taiji's yellow handkerchiefs and Kim Jong Kook's boxing gloves.

Boyband Dong Bang Shin Ki was recorded in The Guinness Book of World Records 2008 for being the artist with the biggest official fan club in the world, Cassiopeia, which currently has 800,000 official members, proving that fan clubs are an essential part of Korean music industry.
